Description

Springbank 21 Year Old Single Cask 1993 (Douglas Laing Old Particular) Bottling Note

It was distilled in May 1993 and matured for 21 years in a refill hogshead cask before being bottled as a single cask in October 2014. Limited production of 233 bottles.

Douglas Laing’s Older Particular range is a series of carefully selected matured single malts bottled at a specific higher alcohol content. This springbank has a natural cask strength of 51.4%, which is higher than 46% of the official bottle 21 year old.

As for the taste, it is very complex and wonderful, far superior to the official 21 year old bottle, from the delightful aroma to the longer finish, even if diluted to the same 46% as the Official 21 year old.

Tasting Notes

Nose: Traditional Springbank nose. Initially sweet toffee and barley, followed by light oak and espresso, with a clean, ozone-like freshness.
Palate: Wonderful vanilla richness, salty coastal splash, nuts and spices. Coffee notes follow, with dried fruit and honey at the end.
Finish: Oily, with barley sweetness, vanilla and liquorice.
