Maximum of 6 bottles and a value of $2500 per shipment
When importing alcoholic beverages into the United States, both federal and state regulations apply. However, exemptions may be granted in cases of personal consumption. To ensure compliance, we recommend limiting purchases to 6 bottles or fewer, as this quantity is generally considered for personal use.
In addition to the bottle limit, frequent purchases may be deemed as business imports, which could lead to rejection of the shipment. Business imports require proper import licenses, so please exercise caution.
Additionally, purchases exceeding $2500 per shipment might be stopped at customs. To avoid complications, it is advised to keep purchases within this limit.
Regulations vary significantly by state, so customers are advised to review local laws on their own responsibility when importing into the United States.
Delivery time considerations
Importing alcoholic beverages into the United States involves a complex process. In addition to preparation on Whisky Nights’ end, customs clearance may take time due to federal and state regulations. Delivery can take approximately 1 to 3 weeks.
Prohibited states for alcohol imports
Alcohol imports are strictly prohibited in Alabama, Arkansas, Delaware, Michigan, Mississippi, Oklahoma, Rhode Island, and Utah. Please consider delivery to other states if possible.
Other important notes
Even for personal imports, duties and taxes must be paid upon entry. Currently, customs duties are a sensitive issue, so please be mindful of this.
Purchasers must meet the legal drinking age, and may be required to present or submit age verification documents during the import process.
In conclusion, importing alcoholic beverages into the United States is a complex process governed by strict regulations. Federal and state import/export laws are constantly changing. Please note that Whisky Nights cannot guarantee successful export to the United States. Therefore, we strongly recommend that customers independently verify all applicable local laws and regulations before making a purchase.
