Tomartin 15 Year Old Moscatel Cask Finish Bottling Notes

‘Moscatel’ stands for muscat. Tomartin 15 Year Old Moscatel Cask Finish is a 15 year old Tomartin single malt that has been slowly matured in oak casks for 10 years and in Portuguese Moscatel wine casks for five years.

Moscatel is not the most common type of cask for maturing whisky, but it has a heavy aroma of dried fruit and toasted nuts.

Maturation in traditional oak casks and Moscatel barriques (small wine casks) has produced warm flavours of toasted citrus spice and sun-dried fruit, with a sweet, creamy finish.

It is non-chill filtered, naturally coloured and limited to around 6,000 bottles.

Tasting Notes

Nose: Granola, chocolate, honey, Brazil nut, caramel, mango.

Palate: Vanilla, walnuts, fresh orange, raisins and melted butter.

Finish: Spicy notes of cinnamon and cloves on the finish, mellowed by notes of sultana raisins and dried apricots.
