Highland

Highland is the largest Scotch whisky region, covering a broad geographical area of mainland Scotland outside the Speyside and Lowland boundaries. Due to its size, the region encompasses a wide variety of distillery styles and production approaches. As a category, Highland whisky cannot be defined by a single flavour profile.

Compared to more narrowly defined regions such as Islay, Highland whiskies are typically positioned as diverse and variable. Sub-regional influences, including coastal and inland locations, contribute to this variation. Its scale and diversity define its place within the Scotch whisky category.
