Johnnie Walker Blue Label Legendary Eight Bottling Note
Blue Label is the top-of-the-range series of Johnnie Walker. Legendary Eight, a more limited edition of the Blue Label, is, as the name suggests, a blend of the original spirits from eight legendary distilleries.
What makes Legendary Eight unique is that it uses the original spirit from the eight distilleries that existed when Johnnie Walker began in 1820, and includes extremely rare spirit from distilleries that have since closed.
Below are the eight distilleries used in Johnnie Walker Blue Label Legendary Eight. Closed distilleries are called ‘ghosts’.
- Lagavulin
- Oban
- Blair Athol
- Teaninich
- Brora (Ghost)
- Canvas (Ghost)
- Port Dundas (Ghost)
- Carsebridge (Ghost)
The beginning of Johnnie Walker in 1820 is the year John Walker opened a grocery shop. He then started blending whisky and established his own brand; 2020 is its bicentenary year.
Tasting Notes
Nose: A rich layer of brown sugar, fruit and sweet wood, evolving further to open up green apple and a hint of citrus. They also complement the gentle peat notes in the background, giving an overall sense of warmth.
Palate: A wonderful sweetness pervades the palate, followed by stone fruits (like peaches and plums), boiled apple, and cocoa.
Finish: The flavor deepens with a hint of smoke, and a soft, lightly peppery finish.
