Togouchi Single Malt is a single malt whisky produced at the Sakurao Distillery, located in Sakurao, Hatsukaichi City, Hiroshima Prefecture, Japan.

The Sakurao Distillery has two prominent brands: “Sakurao” and “Togouchi.” The distinctive feature of the distillery is its use of two separate maturation cellars to create whiskies with different flavor profiles: “Sakurao” is matured by the sea south of the distillery, while “Togouchi” is matured in the mountains to the north. In 2022, the core products—”Sakurao Single Malt” and “Togouchi Single Malt”—were released, both bottled at 43% ABV.

The beauty of the landscape and vibrant colors woven by the rich forests and clear streams stand out in Akiota Town’s Togouchi. A former railway tunnel nestled in this mountain region is used as the Togouchi Cellar. Cool breezes pass through all year, maintaining a constant temperature and humidity in the dark cellar where the whisky slowly matures over time.

Togouchi Single Malt malt is aged for over three years in first-fill bourbon barrels inside the Togouchi Tunnel.

Its appeal lies in aromas of vanilla, apple, marmalade, and melon, and a light, smooth mouthfeel. Enjoy the crisp, clean sweetness and a sharp finish.

Nose: Fresh citrus notes, like marmalade, fresh green apple, melon, and the verdant scent of the forest; impressive vanilla aroma.

Palate: A harmony of sweetness reminiscent of apple pie and cream puffs, with the delicate flavor of jasmine tea. Light and smooth on the palate, with transparent, refreshing sweetness.

Finish: Sweetness derived from the bourbon cask, with a refreshing, mellow, and sharp aftertaste.
