The Nikka Tailored Bottling Note

The Nikka Tailored is a premium blended whisky from Japan. Its predecessor, The Nikka 12 Year Old, was released in 2014 and debuted in 2019 as a non-ageing version to maintain the lineup after the recent whisky boom depleted the original whisky. The distinctive bottle design is said to resemble the collar of an overlapping kimono, expressing that the blended whiskey was created by overlapping malt and grain.

The Nikka Tailored is a testament to the craftsmanship and expertise of Nikka’s master blenders, and is a blend of whiskies from Nikka’s two distilleries, Yoichi and Miyagikyo. It is a premium blended whisky, with a rich variety of Nikka malt whiskies, such as Miyagikyo with its strong sherry flavor and Yoichi with its distinctive peat aroma, as its key ingredients, and also with coffey grain.

The blended whisky has no restrictions on the age of maturation, and a wide range of malt whiskies are used, from young malt whiskies full of vitality to those that have reached the peak of maturity, to express the essence of Nikka whisky and its refined taste.

The identity of the malt, Yoichi malt with its rich peat aroma and Miyagikyo malt aged in gorgeous sherry casks, were carefully selected to create the core of the blend, a ruggedly heavy, cask-aged feel. The dense malt concentration, from the peak of maturity to the full of life, is smoothed out by the coffey grain, and the result is a malt-based blended that has reached a state of perfection.

The Nikka Tailored Tasting Note

Nose: Rich and complex, with aromas of ripe fruit, honey, vanilla, and oak. There are also hints of peat smoke and spice.

Palate: Full-bodied and flavorful, with notes of sweet fruit, spice, and oak. The peat smoke from the nose is more pronounced on the palate, but it is well-balanced by the other flavors.

Finish: Long and lingering, with lingering notes of fruit, spice, and oak. The peat smoke is also present in the finish, but it is more subtle than on the palate.
